Simon and Heather Harding were looking at options to expand their offering to customers. The Coresteel franchise provided the ideal opportunity, so Harding Construction was launched and is now trading as Coresteel South Canterbury. Taking on the Coresteel franchise has also enabled the Hardings to move from a tender-based business to offering customers a complete design and build package. Director and General Manager Simon Harding says this diversification has given the business more opportunity for growth and greater control over its future. “Rather than just responding to tenders, we can now actively promote and sell a steel building product that we believe is far superior to anything else on the market. We can offer commercial and industrial customers a complete design and build service, as well as access new technology that will make the end building stronger and more cost effective.” Marketing Manager Heather Harding says Coresteel is an innovative, forward-thinking company that is always looking to improve its leading-edge technology. “Coresteel offers two unique building systems, the Bracketless Portal System and the Tapered Box Beam, which are revolutionising how steel buildings are constructed, and making buildings more usable, versatile and cost-effective. “We are constantly learning about the incredible capabilities of the systems, in relation to everything from snow loading and wind resistance to earthquake strengthening and vermin proofing. It means we can design and construct a steel building of virtually any size or shape without compromising structural integrity.” The first Coresteel building has already gone up in Oamaru, with other buildings including a 736m2 two-storey office block and combined office and workshop scheduled for construction in the coming months. Simon says the Coresteel offering fits in perfectly with the company’s existing business model. “Harding Construction offers a full commercial, industrial and residential building service from concept to completion.
